Traditional Ruler Brutally Killed In Katsina State

Unknown gunmen have cruelly murdered the head of Birchi village in Katsina state, Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammad Birchi. Daily Trust reports that the incident happened on Monday, October 19, in Mohammad’s residence. According to a witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the assailants numbering 12 in number arrived the village on four motorcycles with each carrying three persons. The witness said that at about 1am the gunmen gained access into the residence from the rear and forced their way into the traditional ruler’s chambers, where they brutally killed him. “Blood stains were seen all over the room. We found him in a pool of his blood. After shooting him in three places including his fore head, chest and stomach, they then used machete to mutilate his body,”he added. Late Mohammad, who was 82-year-old, is survived by three wives and 31 children. Meanwhile, DSP Sadiq Abubakar, the police public relation officer, confirmed the incident, adding that the investigation commenced and a suspect was already apprehended. Earlier this year, unknown gunmeen invaded Nkerefi community in Nkanu East local government area of Enugu state and killed the traditional ruler of Isienu Amofu. Although the reason for the attack could not be ascertained, sources said that the royal father and some youths in the community had a disagreement over a suspicious spiritual sacrifice he made in the community last year.
