Frank Lampard: Chelsea must turn corner very quickly after Stoke defeat

Frank Lampard has warned Chelsea that they must turn the corner "very quickly" after Saturday's defeat at Stoke prolonged their worst-ever start to a Premier League season. Chelsea lost their seventh league game out of 12 this term as Marko Arnautovic's acrobatic volley handed Stoke a 1-0 victory at the Britannia Stadium, with manager Jose Mourinho absent due to a Football Association stadium ban. The reigning champions are now 14 points behind league leaders Manchester City having played a game more, with their title hopes fading fast and Mourinho's future in doubt. New York City FC midfielder Lampard -- who spent 13 years at Stamford Bridge and is the club's leading all-time scorer -- says they must arrest their decline soon. "This is far from a blip, they are losing games regularly," Lampard told Sky Sports. "They need to turn the corner very quickly. They can't dwell on it, they need to get out of it and put it to bed. "I saw glimpses of what they need to turn the corner. I couldn't fault their performance, they just didn't get that little bit of luck to get the result. "They need to get results, simple as that." When asked how Mourinho could start getting results, Lampard added: "He will get to work in the week, but there is only so much he can do in training and tactically. "He has to be positive because there is so much being thrown at Chelsea, there are players out of form and low on confidence, you can see that. "They need everything to be behind them in a positive way and look forward."
