Jigawa: N100m Approved For Renovation Of Govt Lodge

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has approved a contract worth N100 million for the renovation of the state’s presidential lodge, Vanguard reports. According to the state’s commissioner for information, Bala Ibrahim Mamser, the Jigawa state executive council approved the contract because the presidential wing of the lodge was inhabitable for guests. When asked by journalists who the contractor is and the terms of the contract, Mamser referred them to the ministry of works for further details. He also revealed that the government has equally approved the revocation of four road contracts awarded by the immediate past administration of the state. The roads are included Kila-Tsangarwa-Wurno-Rambazau-Maruta, Gagarawa-Bosuwa, Tasheguwa-Guri and Gwaram Basirka respectively. The commissioner stated that the state government was not happy with the performance of the contractors to whom the contracts were earlier awarded and as such, will look into the possibility of rewarding the contracts to other firms. Meanwhile, following media reports that the Jigawa state deputy governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan is set to resign, the state government has denied the report. The government stated that the report was the handiwork of“mischievous elements”who did not wish the government well.
