Senators from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to stop the Senate from conveying formal communication to President Muhammadu Buhari on the incoming ministers.
The Senate president Bukola Saraki at reopening of plenary had asked for a motion to officially communicate to Buhari, names of ministers-designate as confirmed.
Result to the motion moved by Senator Isiaka Adeleke (APC), Saraki called on senator Peter Nwabochi (PDP) to second the motion which he rejected.
Nwabochi explained his denial to follow the motion on the fact that he was not at plenary when some of the nominees were approved.
The Senate president subsequently called on senator Ibrahim Gobir (APC) who quickly seconded the letter.
PDP senators were yelled “NAY’ to oppose sending such motion to President Buhari.
Senators from the opposition had last week confronted the screening and subsequent approval of Rotimi Amaechi, the ex-governor of Rivers state, over a supposed corruption petition brought against him by Rivers Integrity Group.
